Charity – Paws Crossed 

• Paws Crossed is an animal rescue center that accepts primarily stray animals found roaming rural areas, but as space allows, they take in animals from other shelters & animal pound facilities who would otherwise be euthanized. 

• Since 2021 they have addressed and assisted in reducing the stray and abandoned animal population throughout Southwestern Manitoba and beyond, this often includes medically or behaviorally complex cases as well as hospice care animals. 

• They are 100% volunteer run, with 0 paid employees, and a small but dedicated volunteer group reporting to a board of directors. Funding to continue this work comes from donations. 

• Currently their volunteers have been working to renovate a former boarding kennel to provide a safe place for animals to stay during their time at the shelter, where they will receive medical treatment, care, and rehabilitation on their way to forever homes. 

• They also have a Community Outreach Team and Therapy Animals and offer visits to Personal Care Homes, Retirement Villages, Respite facilities and Group homes throughout the year at no expense to the facility or individuals.

• Paws Crossed is working on plans for the summer of 2023 to provide opportunities for those with disabilities to visit on their shelter grounds. This organization also gives opportunities for youth to obtain their Career Preparation/volunteer credit hours onsite at their facility. 

• Currently they need volunteers for a variety of tasks based on interests and skills.  They are always happy to have general volunteers to assist with facility and habitat cleaning and enrichment or exercise activities with animals. They are also looking for persons to take on administrative roles
