  Danessa Picard & Alice Charles

  • Danessa Picard and Alice Charles opened Legacy Cheerleading last June
  • Legacy is an “all are welcome” cheerleading studio in Oak Bluff, MB
  • Students from all over rural Manitoba make the journey to Legacy from Teulon, St. Anne, Steinbach and beyond
  • Current students range in age from two to thirty-something
  • Danessa and Alice met when they were both athletes at the University of Manitoba
  • They share a love of cheerleading because they say there is a place in it for everyone
  • Their favourite thing about cheerleading is its inclusivity, and its team player atmosphere that is unlike any other sport
  • Legacy Cheerleading has various levels of training for any and all folks who are interested in the sport in any capacity
  • They have classes for beginners, and for those who want to professionally compete in cheerleading competitions
  • Legacy is committed to providing an inclusive space for everyone, regardless of financial status, athleticism, or ability

  • Winnipeg Kinsmen recently donated $5,500 to Future Hope, a charity that provides reintegration support to incarcerated men
  • This donation will help support virtual programming which is in high demand during these times
  • This donation is key for Future Hope to be able to develop social media content, manage our educational and fundraising virtual events
  • This will help Future Hope connect with a wider audience and provide program education
