Erickson & Area Food Bank

  • Erickson and Area Food Bank Inc. is a non-profit, charitable organization working to reduce hunger, increase food security, and build community resilience in our region. Our motto is: “Food For All” (“Gakina Awiyaa Omiciwin in Anishnaabemowin). We are located on Treaty 2 and 4, and serve the

communities of Rolling River First Nation, Keeseekoowenin First Nation, Erickson, Sandy Lake and Onanole.

  • The Erickson and Area Food Bank (EAFB) operates a weekly food bank that provides over 60 food hampers to individuals and families in our region. This helps feed over 300 people per month! We rely heavily on donations of both food and money to meet the growing needs in our area.

  • We also support two successful food security projects: a Community Garden and year-round Organic Food Market, featuring both local and imported fruits and vegetables. Sales from the Market help support the Food Bank, and food bank clients benefit from a weekly soup kitchen and access to fresh market food.

  • The EAFB offers free clothing and household items, in partnership with the SCORE Store, a not-for-profit organization in our community. Recently, our Coats For The Community drive brought in a large amount of warm clothing for clients and their families.

  • A Monthly Harm Reduction Clinic takes place out of our site. In partnership with Prairie Mountain Health, a public health nurse is on site once a month to offer information, supplies, and services such as STBBI testing to all.

  • Future programming at the Erickson and Area Food Bank will include classes on Cooking On A Budget, Free haircuts, and more!

  • Our website is: www.ericksonfoodbank.com and we can be found on both Facebook and Instagram.

  • Four years later, on February 20th, 1924, the Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg formed and has since donated millions of dollars to hundreds of community initiatives throughout the province.

  • Winnipeg Kinsmen currently has 24 members who serve on a volunteer board in the organization. The organization is led by a team of six executive members and their daily operations are supported by ten full-time staff.
